Step 1 -On a large platter, add the pork chops and season them with the salt, the black pepper, and the all-purpose seasoning on both sides.

Step 2 -In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat the olive oil until it is shimmering.

Step 3 -Add the seasoned pork chops to the heated olive oil and sear on each side until browned, about 3 minutes per side.

Step 4 -Transfer the pork chops from the skillet to a clean large platter.

Step 5 -In the same large skillet, add the onions and the garlic and sauté until softened and translucent.

Step 6 -Add the flour to the onion mixture and cook, while stirring, until lightly golden, about 1 minute.

Step 7 -Add the beer, the brown sugar, the ketchup, the thyme, and the bay leaf to the onion mixture and stir to combine.

Step 8 -Add the pork chops to the sauce mixture and simmer, uncovered, until the pork reaches an internal temperature of 145 degrees F and the sauce has thickened, about 10 minutes. Make sure to turn the pork at least once during the simmering.

Step 9 -Remove and discard the bay leaf.

Step 10 -Serve.
