It's just so good, you might not know what hit you!
Ingredients
- 1 (1-pound) round loaf sourdough bread
- 1 pound Monterey Jack cheese, sliced
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon celery salt
- fresh chives, optional, to taste, minced
Directions
Step 1 -Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 2 -Line an 18x26-inch baking sheet with parchment paper and top with a sheet of aluminum foil.
Step 3 -Place the bread on a cutting board and use a sharp knife to vertically cut the top of it into 1-inch slices, stopping 1/2-inch from the bottom of the loaf and not cutting all the way through.
Step 4 -Horizontally cut the top of the sourdough bread, repeating the same 1-inch cuts just in the opposite direction, stopping 1/2-inch from the bottom of the loaf and not cutting all the way through.
Step 5 -In a large bowl, add the cheese, the melted butter, the lemon juice, the Dijon mustard, the garlic powder, the onion powder, and the celery salt and stir to combine.
Step 6 -Place the bread on the prepared baking sheet.
Step 7 -Evenly drizzle the cheese mixture all over the bread.
Step 8 -Completely cover the top, bottom, and sides of the bread with aluminum foil.
Step 9 -Bake the cheese bread for 20 minutes.
Step 10 -Carefully unwrap and discard the top piece of aluminum foil and bake until the cheese has melted, about 10 minutes.
Step 11 -Sprinkle the bread with the chives.
Step 12 -Serve immediately.
