- 1 cup water, boiling
- 1 (8-ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
- lime, optional, to taste, sliced, for garnish
Directions
Step 1 -Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 2 -Prepare the cake mix according to the package directions.
Step 3 -Reserve 1/3 of the batter.
Step 4 -Fold 1 box of the gelatin mix into the reserved 1/3 of the batter.

Step 7 -Bake on the lowest rack until the cake springs back when lightly pressed, about 40-50 minutes. Follow the package directions for the best estimate on time.
Step 8 -Let the cake cool for a few minutes, then invert it onto a plate and remove the pan to allow it to cool completely.

Step 10 -Let the gelatin mixture chill until just slightly thickened.
Step 11 -Blend the gelatin mixture with the whipped topping, taking care not to knock the air out.
Step 12 -Frost the cooled cake.
Step 13 -Top with the sliced lime and serve.
