Grandma's Biscuits & Gravy Casserole is a layer of biscuits beneath sausage (a must-have for any biscuits and gravy dish), melty cheddar cheese, and fluffy, creamy eggs (you can never have enough eggs at breakfast)! With a topping of peppery, savory gravy, Grandma's Biscuits & Gravy Casserole does everything a Southern breakfast should!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound bulk sausage
  • 1 (8-count) package refrigerated biscuits
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • salt, to taste
  • black pepper, to taste
  • 1 (2.75-ounce) envelope peppered gravy mix, plus the ingredients called for on the package

Directions

Step 1 -Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2 -Coat a 9x13-inch baking dish with nonstick spray.

Step 3 -In a large skillet over medium heat, add the sausage and cook, while crumbling, until it is no longer pink, about 5-8 minutes.

Step 4 -Drain the excess fat from the skillet.

Step 5 -Open the biscuit package and separate the individual biscuit rounds.

Step 6 -Cut each of the biscuit rounds into 4 pieces and spread the pieces evenly over the bottom of the prepared baking dish.

Step 7 -Add the sausage to the baking dish, layering it evenly over the biscuit pieces.

Step 8 -Sprinkle the cheddar cheese evenly over the sausage layer in the baking dish.

Step 9 -In a large bowl, add the eggs, the milk, the salt, and the black pepper and whisk to combine.

Step 10 -Pour the egg mixture over the cheese layer in the baking dish.

Step 11 -Using the ingredients called for on the package, prepare the peppered gravy according to the package directions.

Step 12 -Pour the peppered gravy evenly over the egg mixture in the baking dish. Do not stir.

Step 13 -Bake until the casserole is puffed and golden-brown on top, about 40-45 minutes.

Step 14 -Serve.
