Ingredients
- 1/3 cup honey
- 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, divided
- 4 (6-ounce) salmon fillets, patted dry with a paper towel
- kosher salt, to taste
- freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 lemon, sliced
- green onions, optional, to taste, sliced, for garnish
Directions
Step 1 -In a medium bowl, add the honey, the soy sauce, the lemon juice, and the red pepper flakes, and whisk to combine.
Step 2 -In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add 2 tablespoons of the oil until it is hot but not smoking.
Step 3 -Add the salmon fillets, skin-side up, to the hot oil and season the skin with the salt and the pepper.
Step 4 -Cook the salmon until deeply golden on the bottom, about 6 minutes.
Step 5 -Carefully flip the salmon fillets and add the remaining oil to the skillet.
Step 6 -Add the garlic to the skillet around the fillets and cook, while stirring, until fragrant, about 1 minute.
Step 7 -Add the honey mixture and the lemon slices to the skillet and cook, while occasionally basting the salmon fillets , until the sauce is reduced by about 1/3 and the fillets reach an internal temperature of 145 degrees F, about 2-4 minutes.
Step 8 -Transfer the fillets from the heat to a serving plate.
Step 9 -Serve garnished with the green onions.
