Fluffy eggs, succulent sausage, notes of tangy mustard, and tender bread bites all come together to make a breakfast fit for the most wonderful time of the year! Cowboy Christmas Morning Casserole is saddling up to make your dining room happy!
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground pork sausage
- 1 teaspoon mustard powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 6 slices white bread, toasted, cut into cubes
- 1 (8-ounce) package mild cheddar cheese, shredded
Directions
Step 1 -Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
Step 2 -In a medium skillet over medium heat, add the sausage and cook, while crumbling, until it is no longer pink, about 5-8 minutes.
Step 3 -Drain the excess fat from the skillet.
Step 4 -Allow the sausage to cool slightly.
Step 5 -In a medium bowl, add the mustard powder, the salt, the eggs, and the milk and whisk to combine.
Step 6 -Add the sausage, the toasted bread cubes, and the cheese to the egg mixture and stir to combine and coat evenly.
Step 7 -Transfer the egg mixture to the prepared baking dish.
Step 8 -Cover the baking dish and refrigerate it for at least 8 hours and up to overnight.
Step 9 -Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 10 -Bake the casserole, covered, for 45 minutes-1 hour.
Step 11 -Uncover the baking dish and reduce the oven temperature to 325 degrees F.
Step 12 -Bake until the casserole is set, about 30 minutes.
Step 13 -Serve.
