Ingredients

  • 1 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 (16.3-ounce) cans refrigerated biscuits
  • 1 cup salted butter, cut into tablespoons
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Directions

Step 1 -Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2 -Coat a 10-inch fluted tube pan with baking spray.

Step 3 -Sprinkle 1/2 cup of the walnuts in the bottom of the prepared tube pan.

Step 4 -In a large, resealable plastic bag, add the white sugar and the cinnamon, seal, and shake to combine.

Step 5 -Transfer the biscuits from the cans and separate them.

Step 6 -Cut each of the biscuits into quarters.

Step 7 -Add about 10 of the biscuit pieces to the cinnamon-sugar in the bag and seal the bag.

Step 8 -Shake the bag vigorously to coat the biscuit pieces.

Step 9 -Add the cinnamon-sugar coated biscuit pieces to the prepared tube pan, spreading them out evenly.

Step 10 -Sprinkle the sugar-coated biscuit layer in the tube pan with about 1/6 of the remaining walnuts.

Step 11 -Repeat the sugar-coating and layering process with the remaining biscuit pieces and the remaining walnuts.

Step 12 -In a medium skillet over medium-low heat, melt the butter.

Step 13 -Add the brown sugar and the vanilla to the melted butter and stir until just combined, about 1 minute. Be careful not to overmix or it will separate.

Step 14 -Carefully and evenly pour the butter mixture over the layers in the tube pan.

Step 15 -Gently shake the tube pan back and forth to ensure the butter mixture coats as much of the dough-walnut mixture as possible.

Step 16 -Bake the bread until it is golden-brown and no longer doughy in the center, about 30-35 minutes.

Step 17 -Loosen the edges of the pan with a spatula.

Step 18 -Allow the monkey bread to cool in the pan for 5 minutes.

Step 19 -Invert the tube pan onto a serving plate and remove the pan.

Step 20 -Serve.
