Ingredients

  • 1 crusty baguette, cut into 1/2-inch slices
  • olive oil, to taste
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 egg whites
  • 2 1/2 cups walnuts
  • 8 ounces goat cheese
  • 2 pears, thinly sliced

Directions

Step 1 -Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2 -Lightly coat the baguette slices with the olive oil and place them on a baking sheet.

Step 3 -Bake the baguette slices until they are golden, about 15-20 minutes.

Step 4 -Line another baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 5 -In a large bowl, add the brown sugar, the white sugar, the cinnamon, and the salt and stir to combine.

Step 6 -In another bowl, add the egg whites and beat until frothy.

Step 7 -Add the walnuts to the egg whites and toss to coat.

Step 8 -Pour the egg white-walnut mixture into the sugar mixture and stir to coat.

Step 9 -Evenly spread the walnut mixture over the prepared baking sheet.

Step 10 -Bake the walnut mixture, tossing halfway through, about 25-30 minutes.

Step 11 -Top the baked bruschetta slices evenly with the goat cheese and the pear slices, then sprinkle with the candied walnuts.

Step 12 -Serve.
