Stewed Cinnamon Apples straddle the line between side dish and dessert in the most delicious way! The apples are slow-cooked to a tender, jammy texture and coated in a smoky, sweet, spiced sauce infused with autumnal warmth. Stewed Cinnamon Apples taste amazing when served alongside fried chicken or seared steak, and it’s guaranteed to disappear before your eyes. Make sure you make enough because you will want seconds!
Ingredients
- 6 cups Granny Smith apples, chopped and peeled
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 cup apple juice
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
Directions
Step 1 -Combine the apples, brown sugar, apple juice, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and salt in a large, heavy saucepan.
Step 2 -Cover and cook over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until the apples are tender, about 45 minutes.
Step 3 -Let the apples sit for 5 minutes.
Step 4 -Serve warm!
