  • 2/3 cup whole milk
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 8 (1-inch-thick) slices focaccia bread
  • unsalted butter, to taste
  • Optional, for serving:
  • yogurt, to taste
  • berries, to taste, of your choice
  • syrup or honey, to taste
  • whipped cream, to taste

Directions

Step 1 -In a large, shallow bowl, add the eggs, the milk, the vanilla, and the cinnamon and whisk to combine.

Step 2 -In two batches, place 4 slices of the focaccia in the egg mixture and allow them to soak for 3 minutes.

Step 3 -Flip the bread slices and soak them in the egg mixture for another 3 minutes.

Step 4 -In a large, nonstick skillet over medium-low heat, melt the butter.

Step 5 -Add the soaked bread slices to the melted butter and cook, flipping them once, until they are golden-brown on all sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.

Step 6 -Transfer the French toast to a wire rack.

Step 7 -Repeat the soaking process with the remaining bread slices, then repeat the cooking process using more of the butter.

Step 8 -Serve with the yogurt, the berries, the syrup, and the whipped cream.
