Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • powdered sugar, to taste, for garnish

Directions

Step 1 -Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.

Step 2 -Line a 9x5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper.

Step 3 -In a large bowl, add the butter and the granulated sugar and use an electric hand mixer to beat until it is well-combined and resembles a wet, sandy mixture.

Step 4 -Add the eggs and the vanilla extract to the butter mixture and beat until the eggs are fully incorporated.

Step 5 -Add the mashed bananas to the butter mixture and whisk until smooth.

Step 6 -Add the flour, the baking powder, the baking soda, and the cocoa powder to the banana mixture and gently whisk until no dry streaks remain.

Step 7 -Evenly pour the banana bread batter into the prepared loaf pan.

Step 8 -Bake the banana bread until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 1 hour.

Step 9 -Dust the banana bread with the powdered sugar, slice, and serve.
