Surrounded in a seasoned buttered rum sauce, the tropical bananas are sautéed with some crunchy walnuts, then used as a topping in a bowl of creamy vanilla ice cream to make the perfect fancy at-home dessert. Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 2/3 cup dark brown sugar
  • 3 1/2 tablespoons rum
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3 bananas, peeled, sliced lengthwise and then crosswise
  • 1/4 cup walnuts, coarsely chopped
  • vanilla ice cream, to taste, for serving

Directions

Step 1 -In a large, deep skillet over medium heat, melt the butter.

Step 2 -Add the brown sugar, the rum, the vanilla extract, and the cinnamon to the melted butter and cook, while stirring frequently, until the mixture reaches a low boil.

Step 3 -Add the bananas and the walnuts to the butter mixture and cook until the bananas have softened, about 1-2 minutes.

Step 4 -Scoop the vanilla ice cream into serving bowls and top with the bananas Foster.
