Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup 2% milk
  • 1 (10.75-ounce) can condensed cheddar cheese soup, undiluted
  • 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, cubed
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 pounds potatoes, peeled and sliced
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • paprika, optional, to taste, for topping
  • fresh herbs, such as curly leaf parsley, optional, to taste, for garnish

Directions

Step 1 -In a large saucepan over medium heat, heat the milk until bubbles form around the sides.

Step 2 -Transfer the saucepan from the heat.

Step 3 -Add the cheddar cheese soup, the cream cheese, the garlic, the nutmeg, and the pepper to the milk and stir until smooth.

Step 4 -Place the potatoes and the onions in a 3-quart slow cooker.

Step 5 -Pour the milk mixture over the potato mixture and mix well.

Step 6 -Cover the slow cooker and cook on low heat until the potatoes are tender, about 6-7 hours.

Step 7 -Serve the potatoes sprinkled with the paprika and garnished with the fresh herbs.
