The mouth-tingling sauce then is poured over some juicy tomatoes, sweet onions, and crispy cucumbers — now, it's time for the ice! Ingredients

  • 5 large tomatoes, cut into wedges
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 3/4 cup white vinegar
  • 6 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 3 teaspoons mustard seed
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 large cucumber, sliced

Directions

Step 1 -In a large heatproof bowl, place the tomatoes and the onions.

Step 2 -In a small saucepan, combine the vinegar, the sugar, the salt, the water, the mustard seed, and the cayenne.

Step 3 -Bring the vinegar mixture to a boil.

Step 4 -Cook the vinegar mixture for 1 minute, stirring to dissolve the sugar.

Step 5 -Carefully pour the sauce over the tomatoes and the onions.

Step 6 -Allow the tomato mixture to cool completely.

Step 7 -Stir the cucumbers into the tomato mixture.

Step 8 -Cover and place in the refrigerator to chill overnight.

Step 9 -Serve.
