Most big sisters are bossy but ours is so much fun! She likes to make her Big Sister's Tater Tot Bake when our mom's away, because it tastes like the casserole version of our favorite drive-thru burger combo. Loaded with juicy beef, melty cheese, crispy tater tots, and some secret sauce (ahem, Thousand Island dressing), it's just the best combination. We've had the greatest of times sitting at the table enjoying this delicious, simple bake and you should experience it, too! Enjoy just how special our Big Sister's Tater Tot Bake really is!

Ingredients

  • For the tater tot bake:
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1/2 onion, diced
  • 1 cup Thousand Island dressing
  • 6 slices American cheese
  • 1/4 cup dill pickles, diced, can substitute dill relish
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 (32-ounce) bag frozen tater tots
  • Optional toppings:
  • 1/2 cup tomatoes, diced
  • 1 cup iceberg lettuce, shredded
  • Thousand Island dressing, to taste

Directions

Step 1 -Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.

Step 2 -In a large skillet over medium heat, add the beef and the onions and cook, while crumbling the meat, until the beef is no longer pink and the onions are translucent.

Step 3 -Add 1 cup of the Thousand Island dressing, the cheese, the pickles, the garlic powder, the salt, and the pepper to the beef mixture and stir to combine.

Step 4 -Evenly spoon the beef mixture into the prepared baking dish, then evenly arrange the tater tots on top.

Step 5 -Bake the tater tot casserole, about 45 minutes.

Step 6 -Evenly top the tater tot casserole with the tomatoes, the lettuce, and the extra Thousand Island dressing.

Step 7 -Serve.
