Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound butter, softened, plus more, to taste, for greasing the pan
  • 3 cups cake flour, sifted twice, divided, plus more, to taste, for dusting the pan
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 7 eggs, room temperature
  • 1 cup whipping cream
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Directions

Step 1 -Using the extra butter, grease a 10-inch tube pan. Using the extra flour, dust the buttered pan, lightly tapping out the excess.

Step 2 -In a bowl, using an electric hand mixer, add the sugar and 1/2 pound of the butter, beating to cream the mixture thoroughly.

Step 3 -Add the eggs to the sugar mixture, one at a time, beating after each addition.

Step 4 -Mix 1 1/2 cups of the flour into the sugar mixture.

Step 5 -Add the whipping cream and the remaining 1 1/2 cups of the flour to the sugar mixture and mix to combine.

Step 6 -Add the vanilla to the batter.

Step 7 -Pour the batter into the prepared tube pan.

Step 8 -Place the pan in the oven, then preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 9 -Bake the cake until a knife inserted into the center comes out clean, about 1 hour-1 hour 10 minutes.

Step 10 -Let the cake cool in the pan for 5 minutes.

Step 11 -Invert the cake onto a wire rack and let it cool completely.

Step 12 -Slice and serve.
