From carnival classic to oven-fresh snack! Oven-Fried Pickles are exactly what their name suggests, which is amazing because what the name suggests is fabulous: sour, tangy pickles coated in aromatic breading and baked to crunchy excellence. It's doubly amazing how such an incredible treat can be ready in under half an hour: you could be enjoying Oven-Fried Pickles before you know it! That sounds like an incredible afternoon!
Ingredients
- 1 cup panko bread crumbs
- 1/4 cup dill, freshly chopped
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- kosher salt, to taste
- freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup pickle slices, patted dry with paper towels
- ranch dressing, optional, for dipping
Directions
Step 1 -Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F.
Step 2 -Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
Step 3 -In a shallow bowl, stir together the bread crumbs, dill, melted butter, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper.
Step 4 -Season the bread crumb mixture with salt and pepper.
Step 5 -Put the flour in a separate, shallow bowl.
Step 6 -In a third bowl, beat the eggs.
Step 7 -In batches, toss the pickles in the flour until lightly coated.
Step 8 -Dip the coated pickles in the eggs.
Step 9 -Toss the egg-coated pickles in the panko mixture until fully coated.
Step 10 -Place the pickles on the prepared baking sheet.
Step 11 -Bake until golden and crispy, about 15 minutes.
Step 12 -Serve with ranch.
