  • 1 pound ground beef, 90% lean
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 cup reduced-fat ranch salad dressing
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 4 cups iceberg lettuce, shredded
  • 4 cups romaine, chopped
  • 1 medium cucumber, finely chopped
  • 1 medium tomato, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup dill pickles, chopped
  • 1/4 cup red onion, finely chopped
  • 3/4 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • potato chips, optional, to taste, crushed

Directions

Step 1 -In a small bowl, combine the beef, salt, and pepper, mixing lightly but thoroughly.

Step 2 -Shape the seasoned beef into four 1/2-inch-thick patties.

Step 3 -Over medium heat, grill the burgers (covered) until an instant meat thermometer reads 160 degrees F, about 4-5 minutes on each side.

Step 4 -In a small bowl, whisk the salad dressing and ketchup together.

Step 5 -In a large bowl, toss the iceberg lettuce and romaine lettuce with 1/2 of the dressing mixture.

Step 6 -Divide the following among four salad bowls: the dressing-tossed-lettuce, burgers, cucumber, tomato, pickles, red onion, and cheese.

Step 7 -Top each bowl with the crushed potato chips.

Step 8 -Serve with the remaining dressing.
