Breakfast Surprise Bombs

Time: 20 minutes

Yield: 8 servings

About

The surprise of the Breakfast Surprise Bombs is the filling — a melty, creamy, tangy, chocolate-hazelnut treat so good you'll be licking your fingers to make sure you don't miss a drop! Of course, the other surprise of Breakfast Surprise Bombs is the outside — a French-toast like coating that creates a gorgeous golden-brown color coated in a layer of cinnamon-sugar because... come on. No one can say no to cinnamon sugar. Just not possible. Breakfast Surprise Bombs won't surprise you when you realize how much you love them!

Ingredients

  • 16 slices white bread, crusts trimmed, discarded
  • cream cheese, to taste
  • Nutella®, to taste
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 tablespoons milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • syrup, optional, to taste, for serving

Directions

Step 1 -On a flat surface, add the bread slices, 1 at a time, and using a rolling pin, flatten each of them.

Step 2 -On the left side of each of the flattened bread slices, add a small, vertical strip of the cream cheese and a small vertical, strip of the Nutella.

Step 3 -Roll each of the filled bread slices up so the cream cheese and the Nutella are on the inside.

Step 4 -In a shallow bowl, add the sugar and the cinnamon and stir to combine.

Step 5 -In a second shallow bowl, add the eggs and the milk and whisk to combine.

Step 6 -In a large frying pan over medium-low heat, melt the butter.

Step 7 -Evenly dip the bread roll-ups into the egg mixture.

Step 8 -Place the dipped bread roll-ups, seam-side down, on the pan and cook, while turning them occasionally, until they are golden-brown on all sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.

Step 9 -Transfer the golden-brown bread roll-ups to the cinnamon-sugar and roll to coat them. Repeat until all of the roll-ups have been dredged, cooked, and coated.

Step 10 -Serve warm.
