Sweet and savory pork, pan-seared to a beautiful golden, are simmered in a floral, sweet, and fragrant honey sauce. The happiness of Honey Garlic Chops cannot be overstated... which is why they disappear so fast!
Ingredients
- 4 (1/2-1-inch-thick) pork chops, bone-in or boneless
- salt, to taste
- pepper, to taste
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 6 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup water or chicken broth
- 2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar, can substitute white vinegar
Directions
Step 1 -Preheat the oven broiler to medium-high heat.
Step 2 -Season the pork chops with the salt, the pepper, and the garlic powder.
Step 3 -In an ovenproof skillet over medium-high heat, add the olive oil.
Step 4 -Add the pork chops to the hot oil and cook, flipping them once, until they are golden and reach an internal temperature of 145 degrees F, about 4-5 minutes per side.
Step 5 -Transfer the chops to a plate.
Step 6 -Reduce the stovetop heat to medium.
Step 7 -In the same skillet used for the chops, add the butter and let it melt, while scraping the bottom of the pan to release the browned bits.
Step 8 -Add the minced garlic to the melted butter and cook, while stirring, until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
Step 9 -Add the honey, the water, and the vinegar to the garlic mixture and increase the heat to medium-high.
Step 10 -Cook the honey mixture, while stirring occasionally, until it reduces and thickens slightly into a sauce, about 3-4 minutes.
Step 11 -Add the chops to the sauce and baste them generously.
Step 12 -Transfer the skillet to the broiler and broil until the edges of the chops are lightly charred, about 1-2 minutes.
Step 13 -Serve.
