Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons turbinado sugar
- ground cinnamon, to taste
- 6 ounces spiced apple cider, plus more, to taste
- ice, to taste
- 3 ounces tequila
- 1 ounce orange liqueur
- 1/2 ounce orange juice
- 1/2 ounce maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon egg whites
- 2 ounces sparkling mineral water
- star anise, optional, to taste, for garnish
Directions
Step 1 -In a shallow plate, add the turbinado sugar and the cinnamon and whisk to combine.
Step 2 -In a separate, shallow plate, add the extra apple cider.
Step 3 -Dip the rims of your intended serving glasses into the apple cider.
Step 4 -Dip the cider-coated rims of the serving glasses in the cinnamon-sugar mixture, trying to evenly and completely coat the rims.
Step 5 -Fill the serving glasses with the ice.
Step 6 -In a shaker with no ice, add the tequila, the orange liqueur, 6 ounces of the remaining apple cider, the orange juice, the maple syrup, and the egg whites, cover, and shake vigorously. You should shake the tequila mixture until the egg whites emulsify and are frothy, about 1 minute.
Step 7 -Pour the tequila mixture evenly into the prepared serving glasses.
Step 8 -Top each evenly with the sparkling mineral water.
Step 9 -Garnish each with the star anise and serve.
