A truly refreshing winter cocktail that will give you warm feelings! Winter Spritz is cool, quite literally. It has plenty of ice and homemade sweet mint syrup mixed right in. Smoky bourbon, tangy cranberry juice, and tart pomegranate juice mingle for a fruity and satisfying sip... and more! Winter Spritz is how you take the edge off the cold weather!
Ingredients
- For the mint simple syrup:
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup water
- 1 bunch mint leaves
- For the spritz:
- ice cubes, to taste
- 2 1/2 ounces bourbon
- 1 ounce cranberry juice
- 1 ounce pomegranate juice
- fresh mint leaves, optional to taste, for garnish
Directions
Step 1 -In a small saucepan over high heat, add the granulated sugar, the water, and 1 bunch of the mint leaves and bring the mixture to a boil, while stirring constantly.
Step 2 -Reduce the heat to low and cook until the sugar is completely dissolved and the mixture has thickened slightly into a syrup.
Step 3 -Allow the mint simple syrup to cool completely for at least 15 minutes.
Step 4 -Strain the mint leaves out of the simple syrup.
Step 5 -In a cocktail shaker, add the ice.
Step 6 -Add the bourbon, 1 1/2 ounces of the mint simple syrup, the cranberry juice, and the pomegranate juice to the cocktail shaker, cover, and shake for 30 seconds. Refrigerate the remaining mint simple syrup and reserve for another use.
Step 7 -In a serving glass, add more of the ice.
Step 8 -Strain the cocktail over the ice in the serving glass.
Step 9 -Serve garnished with the extra mint leaves.
