Ingredients

  • 4 chicken breasts, boneless and skinless
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • salt, to taste
  • pepper, to taste
  • 1 onion, finely diced
  • 2 cups barbeque sauce, divided
  • 1/2 cup light beer or chicken broth
  • 8 hamburger buns
  • coleslaw, optional, to taste, store-bought or homemade, for serving

Directions

Step 1 -In a slow cooker, add the chicken breasts, the garlic powder, the salt, and the pepper and toss to coat.

Step 2 -Add the onions, 1 cup of the barbeque sauce, and the beer and stir gently to combine.

Step 3 -Cover and cook until the chicken breasts are cooked through and tender, about 6-7 hours on low and 3-4 hours on high.

Step 4 -With two forks, shred the chicken in the slow cooker.

Step 5 -Drizzle the chicken with the remaining barbeque sauce.

Step 6 -Evenly divide the pulled chicken between the hamburger buns.

Step 7 -Serve with the coleslaw.
