Ingredients
- 2 pounds chicken wings, pre-cut into wingettes and drumsticks, patted dry
- 2 tablespoons canola oil
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 3 1/2 teaspoons lemon pepper seasoning, divided
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- green onion, to taste, chopped, for garnish
- lemon wedges, to taste, for garnish
Directions
Step 1 -Adjust an oven rack to the center of the oven and place a second rack in the upper third of the oven. Then preheat the oven to 450 degrees F.
Step 2 -Line a large baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a wire rack on top. Lightly coat it with nonstick spray.
Step 3 -In the large mixing bowl, add the chicken wings, the canola oil, the honey, and 2 teaspoons of the lemon pepper seasoning and stir to coat.
Step 4 -Arrange the coated wings in a single layer on the wire rack on the prepared baking sheet.
Step 5 -Place the baking sheet on the middle oven rack and bake the chicken wings until they reach an internal temperature of 165 degrees F, the skin starts to shrink away from the ends of the bones, and the juices run clear when pierced with a fork, about 12-18 minutes.
Step 6 -Switch the oven to the broil setting.
Step 7 -Transfer the baking sheet to the top oven rack and broil the wings until they have darkened and are crispy, about 2-3 minutes. Be careful not to burn them.
Step 8 -In a clean large bowl, add the cooked wings, the butter, the lemon juice, the black pepper, and the remaining lemon pepper seasoning and stir until they are well-coated.
Step 9 -Serve the wings sprinkled with the green onions and garnished with the lemon wedges.
