Ingredients

  • For the fries:
  • 1 (32-ounce) bag frozen french fries
  • For the cheese sauce:
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
  • salt, to taste
  • pepper, to taste
  • Toppings:
  • 1/2 pound bacon, cooked, crumbled
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 4 green onions, chopped

Directions

Step 1 -Bake the french fries according to the package directions.

Step 2 -In a small saucepan, melt the butter.

Step 3 -Whisk the flour into the butter and cook, while whisking, until the raw flour smell disappears, about 1 minute.

Step 4 -Slowly add the milk to the flour mixture and cook, while stirring, until the mixture thickens slightly, about 5 minutes.

Step 5 -Transfer the sauce from the heat and stir the cheese in until completely melted and thoroughly combined.

Step 6 -Season the sauce with the salt and the pepper.

Step 7 -Immediately drizzle the baked fries with the cheese sauce.

Step 8 -Sprinkle the fries with the bacon and drizzle with the sour cream.

Step 9 -Sprinkle the fries with the green onions.

Step 10 -Serve.
