The rosy-pink, tender salmon is pan-seared and then coated with a sweet and savory honey sauce, perfumed by lemon and garlic. This dish is so easy and speedy, you'll assign it a permanent spot on your weekly meal rotation. Otherwise, you'll be trying to make Happy Honey Salmon every day... it certainly will make you happy!

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds salmon fillets, skin-on
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice, freshly squeezed
  • 1 tablespoon garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon green onions, finely chopped, for garnish
  • lemon slices, optional, to taste, for serving

Directions

Step 1 -Using paper towels, pat the salmon fillets dry.

Step 2 -Season the salmon fillets with the salt and the pepper.

Step 3 -Set the salmon fillets aside at room temperature for 10-15 minutes.

Step 4 -In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the olive oil until it sizzles, about 2 minutes.

Step 5 -Add the salmon fillets to the hot oil, skin-side up and cook until seared, about 5-6 minutes.

Step 6 -Flip the fillets and cook on the skin-side, until the salmon fillets reach an internal temperature of 145 degrees F, about 5-6 minutes.

Step 7 -Transfer the salmon fillets to a plate.

Step 8 -In a small bowl, add the soy sauce, the honey, the water, the cornstarch, and the lemon juice and whisk well until the cornstarch dissolves.

Step 9 -In the same skillet used to fry the fish over medium heat, add the garlic and cook, while stirring, until fragrant, about 1 minute.

Step 10 -Add the soy sauce mixture to the skillet and cook, while stirring, until thickened, about 3-4 minutes.

Step 11 -Add the salmon fillets to the skillet and spoon the sauce over the fillets.

Step 12 -Serve the salmon fillets topped with the green onions and the lemon slices.
