Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups low-fat milk
- 8 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon thyme, chopped
- salt, to taste
- pepper, to taste
- 1 large baguette, thinly sliced
- 8 ounces cheddar cheese, shredded
- 8 ounces deli ham, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon chives, snipped
Directions
Step 1 -Coat a 2-quart baking dish with nonstick spray.
Step 2 -In a bowl, whisk the milk, the eggs, the Dijon mustard, the thyme, the salt, and the pepper until blended.
Step 3 -Arrange 1/2 of the bread, overlapping, in the prepared baking dish.
Step 4 -Pour 1/2 of the milk mixture over the bread.
Step 5 -Sprinkle with 1/2 of the cheese.
Step 6 -Top the cheese layer with the ham.
Step 7 -Repeat the layering of the bread, the milk mixture, and the cheddar cheese.
Step 8 -Cover the dish and chill for at least 1 hour and up to overnight.
Step 9 -Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 10 -Uncover and bake until the casserole is golden and the custard is set, about 50-55 minutes.
Step 11 -Let the bake stand for 5 minutes.
Step 12 -Serve the bake garnished with the chives.
