Ingredients
- 2/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 3/4 teaspoon kosher salt
- 3 ounces unsweetened chocolate, chopped
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 1/4 cups white sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Directions
Step 1 -Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 2 -Prepare an 8-inch square baking dish or pan by buttering it and then lining it with parchment paper.
Step 3 -In a bowl, mix together the flour and salt. Set the flour mixture aside.
Step 4 -Prepare a double-boiler by placing a heatproof bowl over a saucepan with 1 inch of very gently simmering water.
Step 5 -Add the chocolate and butter to the heatproof bowl.
Step 6 -When the butter and most of the chocolate are melted, turn off the heat and continue stirring until smooth. Set it aside.
Step 7 -In a mixing bowl, combine the sugar and eggs and beat with a hand mixer until very airy, thick, and creamy, about 5 minutes.
Step 8 -Add the vanilla extract to the egg and sugar mixture and, while the mixer is running at medium-high speed, slowly drizzle in the melted chocolate mixture. Pouring in the chocolate slowly and constantly whisking helps prevent the eggs from scrambling.
Step 9 -Turn the mixer down to the lowest speed and add in the flour mixture. Continue mixing until the flour is fully incorporated.
Step 10 -Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.
Step 11 -Bake on the center rack until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean, about 30 minutes.
Step 12 -Allow the brownies to cool in the pan on a wire rack to room temperature for about 20-30 minutes.
Step 13 -Remove from the pan, slice into serving-size pieces, and serve!
