Caramel Apple Dump Cake is a simple and tasty way to welcome the cooler weather — jammy, sweet, and beautifully spiced apples and a layer of buttery rich melted caramel hide beneath a yellow cake top! When you serve it warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, Caramel Apple Dump Cake becomes a sweater for the soul!
Ingredients
- 2 (20-ounce) cans apple pie filling
- 1/2 teaspoon allspice
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 (10.8-ounce) bag chewy caramel candies, halved
- 1 (13.25-15.25-ounce) box super moist butter yellow cake mix
- 1 1/2 sticks salted butter, cold and cut into 15 slices
- vanilla ice cream, optional, to taste, for serving
Directions
Step 1 -Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 2 -Coat a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
Step 3 -In the prepared baking dish, add the apple pie filling, the allspice, and the cinnamon and stir to combine. Spread the apple pie filling mixture out evenly.
Step 4 -Sprinkle the caramel halves over the apple pie filling mixture.
Step 5 -Add the cake mix to the baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
Step 6 -Evenly add the cold butter slices on top of the dry cake mix.
Step 7 -Bake, rotating the baking dish halfway through, until the cake layer is cooked through and golden-brown, and the filling is bubbly, about 45 minutes.
Step 8 -Serve warm topped with the ice cream.
