Ingredients
- 1 1/2 strawberries, hulled
- 1/3 cup water
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 2 lemons
- 1 1/2 cups ice
- 1/2 cup gin
Directions
Step 1 -Place the strawberries on a large plate and transfer it to the freezer. Chill until they are firm, for at least 1 hour and up to overnight.
Step 2 -While the strawberries are freezing, in a saucepan over medium heat, add the water and the sugar and heat, stirring constantly, until the sugar dissolves.
Step 3 -Transfer the saucepan from the heat and let the simple syrup cool completely.
Step 4 -Use a sharp knife to slice 1 of the lemons in half, then slice 2 (1/4-inch-thick) wheels from one of the halves.
Step 5 -Make a slice through one side of the peel and the pulp, then carefully slice around the pulp to separate the peel from it to create a strip. Note: You don't want a lot of the white part on the peel because it is bitter, but you do need a little of it so that it holds it shape. So, aim to slice halfway between the edge of the peel and the pulp.
Step 6 -Use your hands to twirl the peel strip into a lemon twist and repeat the process with the remaining wheel so that you have two twists for garnish.
Step 7 -Use a juice squeezer to juice the remaining whole lemon and the remaining lemon half. There should be about 1/3 cup of the juice.
Step 8 -In a blender, add the frozen strawberries, the simple syrup, the lemon juice, the ice, and the gin and blend until it is smooth.
Step 9 -Pour the frozen lemonade into serving glasses and garnish with the lemon twists.
Step 10 -Serve.
