Ingredients

  • 4 pork chops, bone-in, about 3/4-inch thick
  • salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • 3 tablespoons butter, divided
  • 2 apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
  • 1 large white onion, halved and thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • pinch of ground cayenne pepper
  • 2/3 cup apple cider
  • 1/3 cup heavy cream

Directions

Step 1 -Heavily season the pork chops with salt and pepper on each side, then set them aside.

Step 2 -Using a large skillet over medium-high heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter.

Step 3 -Directly add in the pork chops and let them cook until they are a golden brown.

Step 4 -Move the pork chops to a plate and set aside. Let the chops rest for another 3 minutes.

Step 5 -Heat the same skillet to medium-high heat and melt a tablespoon of butter.

Step 6 -Add the apples and onion and cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the onion is soft and translucent.

Step 7 -Mix in the brown sugar, cinnamon, and cayenne.

Step 8 -Add in the apple cider and heavy cream.

Step 9 -Place the pork chops back in the liquid, and cook it until the internal temperature of the chops reaches between 145 degrees F.

Step 10 -Let them rest for 3 minutes.

Step 11 -Serve the chops with the apple mixture on top.
