Ingredients

  • 8 ounces semisweet chocolate, high-quality, broken into pieces
  • 2 teaspoons canola oil, divided
  • 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract, divided
  • 25 peppermint candies, crushed and divided
  • 8 ounces white chocolate, high-quality broken into pieces

Directions

Step 1 -Grease a 9x9-inch pan and line it with waxed paper. Set it aside.

Step 2 -Place the semisweet chocolate pieces and 1 teaspoon of the canola oil on the top of a double boiler, making sure that the water is just barely simmering.

Step 3 -Stir the chocolate mixture frequently and scrape down the sides with a spatula to avoid the chocolate from burning.

Step 4 -When the chocolate is completely melted, stir in 1/4 teaspoons of the peppermint extract.

Step 5 -Pour the melted chocolate into the previously prepared pan, spreading it evenly over the pan. It should be at the bottom.

Step 6 -Garnish half of the peppermint candies over the top of the chocolate layer.

Step 7 -Refrigerate the bark until it is completely hardened, about 1 hour.

Step 8 -Put the white chocolate and the remaining 1 teaspoon canola oil on top of a double boiler over just barely simmering water.

Step 9 -Repeat the same melting and pouring process for the white chocolate, pouring it into the pan on top of the semisweet chocolate.

Step 10 -Garnish the top of the melted white chocolate with the remaining peppermint candies.

Step 11 -Refrigerate the pan once again until the white chocolate hardens, about 1 hour.

Step 12 -When the bark has hardened, remove the candy from its pan.

Step 13 -Break the bark into small pieces to serve and share with others.
