This is the kind of club everyone wants to be a part of! The Ultimate Club Sandwich is a layered masterclass in great taste and first-class satisfaction. Even the mayonnaise gets in on the next-level action, infused with two different kinds of pesto! Succulent ham and turkey, crispy bacon, fresh and creamy avocado, and a slice of cheese all sandwiched between crunchy toast slices? Well, that doesn't just make a great club sandwich... it's what makes the Ultimate Club Sandwich!
Ingredients
- 12 slices sandwich bread, of your choice
- 8 slices bacon, cut in half
- 4 tablespoons mayonnaise, divided
- 1 tablespoon prepared basil pesto
- 1 tablespoon prepared sun-dried tomato pesto, can substitute puréed sun-dried tomatoes
- 1/2 pound deli shaved ham
- romaine or green leaf lettuce, to taste
- 4 avocados, sliced
- 1/2 pound deli shaved turkey
- 4 slices Swiss or mozzarella cheese
- potato chips, optional, to taste, for serving
Directions
Step 1 -In a toaster, toast the bread slices until lightly golden-brown, about 5-6 minutes.
Step 2 -In a pan or skillet over medium-high heat, add the bacon and cook, while flipping occasionally, until just barely crisp, about 6-7 minutes.
Step 3 -Transfer the bacon to a paper-towel-lined plate to drain.
Step 4 -In a small bowl, add 2 tablespoons of the mayonnaise and the basil pesto and stir to combine.
Step 5 -In a separate small bowl, add the remaining mayonnaise and the sun-dried tomato pesto and stir to combine.
Step 6 -Evenly divide about 1/4 of the basil pesto-mayo mixture over 2 slices of the toast, only smearing the mixture on 1 side of each slice.
Step 7 -Atop the basil pesto-mayo layer on 1 of the toast slices, add about 1/4 of the ham and an even amount of the lettuce.
Step 8 -Atop the basil pesto-mayo layer on the remaining toast slice, add 1/2 of 1 of the avocados and 2 pieces of the bacon.
Step 9 -Close the sandwich with all the fillings facing in towards each other.
Step 10 -Evenly divide and spread about 1/4 of the sun-dried-tomato-mayo mixture across the top of the closed sandwich and on 1 side of an additional slice of the toast .
Step 11 -Layer 1/4 of the turkey, an even amount of the lettuce, 1/2 of 1 of the avocados, 2 pieces of the bacon, and 1 slice of the cheese atop the sundried-tomato mayo mixture on top of the sandwich.
Step 12 -Top the sandwich with the additional slice of toast, placing the sun-dried-tomato-mayo mixture side facing down.
Step 13 -Using the remaining ingredients, repeat the sandwich-making process to make 3 more sandwiches. Use toothpicks as needed to hold the layers in place.
Step 14 -Using a sharp knife, cut each of the sandwiches into quarters.
Step 15 -Serve with the chips.
