  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Directions

Step 1 -Adjust one oven rack to the top third position and a second rack to the bottom third position. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.

Step 2 -Line two baking sheets with foil, then place an oven-safe wire rack on top of each.

Step 3 -Evenly lay out the bacon strips perpendicularly on the prepared wire racks, ensuring they don't overlap.

Step 4 -Evenly sprinkle the bacon strips with the brown sugar and the pepper.

Step 5 -Bake the candied bacon strips, rotating the baking sheets halfway through, until the brown sugar is melted and the bacon is deeply browned, about 18-25 minutes.

Step 6 -Transfer the baking sheets to a wire rack and let the candied bacon strips rest until they are cool and crisp, about 2-5 minutes.
