Just add a pork shoulder roast, a bit of that bubbly beverage, and some tangy barbecue sauce to your slow cooker and then go about your business. When it's done, shred it and load up a bun with the best-tasting pulled pork you ever did enjoy! Sweet Suds Pulled Pork uses an unlikely soda and turns your favorite meat into an unbelievable meal!
Ingredients
- 1 (2-3.5-pound) pork shoulder picnic roast, boneless
- 1 (12-ounce) can root beer
- 1 cup sweet barbecue sauce
- hamburger buns, to taste, for serving
Directions
Step 1 -In a slow cooker, add the pork shoulder and evenly cover it with the root beer and the barbecue sauce.
Step 2 -Cover the slow cooker and cook on low heat, keeping the lid closed, until the pork shoulder is tender, about 10 hours.
Step 3 -Transfer the cooked pork shoulder to a cutting board and use two forks to shred the meat, discarding any of the excess fat.
Step 4 -Transfer the shredded pork to the slow cooker and stir to coat it in the sauce.
Step 5 -Evenly scoop the pulled pork onto the hamburger buns.
Step 6 -Serve.
