Ingredients

  • 1 apple, diced
  • 1 orange sliced and quartered, plus 1 orange sliced and halved, divided
  • 1/3 cup orange juice
  • 1 lemon, sliced and quartered
  • 1 (750-milliliter) bottle red wine
  • 1/2 cup brandy
  • maple syrup, optional, to taste, can substitute honey or other liquid sweetener
  • ice, to taste
  • sparkling water, optional, to taste

Directions

Step 1 -In a pitcher, add the apples, the quartered orange slices, the orange juice, and the quartered lemon slices.

Step 2 -Add the red wine, the brandy, and the maple syrup to the pitcher and stir to combine.

Step 3 -Refrigerate the pitcher for at least 4 hours and up to overnight; preferably allowing as much time as possible for the flavors to develop.

Step 4 -Fill your intended serving glasses with the ice.

Step 5 -Pour the sangria over the ice in the serving glasses, ensuring to add some of the cocktail-infused fruit pieces into the glasses.

Step 6 -Top each of the glasses with the sparkling water.

Step 7 -Serve the sangria garnished with the remaining halved orange slices.
