Sure, there's a time and place for those super crispy, diner-style spuds, but once you try these creamy, cheesy, spicy, sausage-filled ones, well... it might be a while before you return to the other kind. Serve 'em up with waffles, eggs, pancakes, French toast, or whatever else it is you're craving, and you'll be in for a real savory treat! Mmm, breakfast just got even better thanks to Savor Sausage Hash Browns!
Ingredients
- 1 pound bulk spicy pork sausage
- 1 (30-ounce) package frozen shredded hash brown potatoes, thawed
- 2 cups sour cream
- 1 (16-ounce) jar Ragú® Double Cheddar Cheese Sauce
- 2 (4-ounce) cans chopped green chiles, drained
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- green onions, to taste, sliced, for garnish
Directions
Step 1 -In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage, while crumbling, until it is no longer pink. Drain the excess grease.
Step 2 -In a 4-quart slow cooker, add the cooked sausage, the hash browns, the sour cream, the cheese sauce, the green chiles, and the crushed red pepper flakes and stir to combine.
Step 3 -Cover the slow cooker and cook the hash browns on low heat until they are heated through, about 5-6 hours.
Step 4 -Serve the hash browns garnished with the green onions.
