Ingredients

  • 1 (64-ounce) bottle Ruby Red grapefruit juice
  • 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 3 tablespoons kosher salt, plus more, to taste
  • 1/2 cup Ruby Red grapefruit-flavored vodka, such as Deep Eddy®
  • Ruby Red grapefruit, to taste, sliced

Directions

Step 1 -Evenly pour the bottle of the grapefruit juice into ice cube trays and freeze until the cubes are solid, for at least 8 hours and up to overnight.

Step 2 -In a small saucepan over high heat, add the sugar, the water, and 3 tablespoons of the salt and bring to a boil.

Step 3 -Reduce the heat to medium. Cook the sugar mixture, stirring constantly, until the sugar and the salt are dissolved.

Step 4 -Transfer the saucepan from the heat and let the salted simple syrup cool to room temperature, about 30 minutes.

Step 5 -In a blender or food processor, add 1/2 of the frozen juice cubes, 1/2 of the vodka, and 1/4 cup of the salted simple syrup and process until it is smooth but still frozen.

Step 6 -Pour the grapefruit mixture into a bowl, then repeat the process with the remaining frozen juice cubes, the remaining vodka, and 1/4 cup of the salted simple syrup. Store any remaining salted simple syrup in the refrigerator for up to a week.

Step 7 -On a plate, add the extra salt.

Step 8 -Rub the rims of the serving glasses with one of the grapefruit slices, then dip the rims into the salt to coat.

Step 9 -Spoon 1 cup of the slush mixture into each of the prepared glasses.

Step 10 -Serve the drinks garnished with more of the grapefruit slices.
