  • 1 medjool date, pitted, can substitute 2 teaspoons maple syrup
  • 1 (1-inch) knob fresh ginger, peeled
  • 2 teaspoons gochugaru, optional
  • 1 1/2 pounds steak, such as sirloin, rib-eye, strip, or tenderloin, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 tablespoon avocado oil
  • sesame seeds, optional, to taste, for garnish
  • green onions, optional, to taste, chopped, for garnish

Directions

Step 1 -In a blender, add the coconut aminos, the toasted sesame oil, the garlic cloves, the date, the ginger, and the gochugaru.

Step 2 -Cover the blender and blend the marinade mixture until smooth.

Step 3 -In a large, resealable plastic bag, add the marinade and the steak pieces and seal the bag.

Step 4 -Massage the steak pieces in the marinade to coat them.

Step 5 -Place the bag in the refrigerator to marinate for at least 2 hours and up to overnight.

Step 6 -Transfer the steak pieces from the marinade and drain them, discarding the excess marinade.

Step 7 -In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the avocado oil and allow it to heat until it is sizzling.

Step 8 -Add the marinated steak pieces to the hot oil in a single layer and cook, undisturbed, until seared on one side, about 2 minutes.

Step 9 -Flip the steak pieces and cook, undisturbed, until they reach an internal temperature of 135 degrees F for a medium-rare doneness, about 2 minutes.

Step 10 -Serve the steak pieces garnished with the sesame seeds and the green onions.
