Just like baseball, it doesn't get more American than that! Served on a bun with your favorite condiments, Home Run Dog is about to reach home plate and your taste buds are ecstatic!

Ingredients

  • 8 hot dogs
  • 8 slices bacon
  • grapeseed oil or canola oil, to taste
  • 8 hot dog buns, split and toasted
  • yellow mustard, optional, to taste, for serving
  • ketchup, optional, to taste, for serving

Directions

Step 1 -Wrap each of the hot dogs with 1 slice of the bacon.

Step 2 -Transfer the wrapped hot dogs to the refrigerator to sit until the cooking oil is hot.

Step 3 -In a large saucepan over medium-high heat, add the oil and heat it to 350 degrees F.

Step 4 -In batches, add the wrapped hot dogs to the hot oil and cook, while turning the hot dogs occasionally, until the bacon is crispy and browned and the hot dogs are heated through, about 2-5 minutes.

Step 5 -Transfer the cooked wrapped hot dogs to a paper-towel-lined plate to drain.

Step 6 -Repeat until all of the wrapped hot dogs are cooked, making sure that the oil has time to heat back up to 350 degrees F between batches.

Step 7 -Transfer 1 of the wrapped hot dogs to each of the hot dog buns.

Step 8 -Serve topped with the mustard and the ketchup.
