Crumbled ground beef, a cheesy, seasoned sauce, and lots and lots of elbow macaroni are mixed together and finished off with a breadcrumb topping to create a homestyle taste that brings a comforting hug with each bite. He's famous for his delicious Grandpa's Helper for good reason. It's the best... just like him! Sorry, grandma!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 (10.75-ounce) can condensed cheddar cheese soup
  • 1 (10.75-ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups elbow macaroni, cooked and drained
  • 1 cup Velveeta® cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup dry breadcrumbs
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted

Directions

Step 1 -Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2 -Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.

Step 3 -In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the ground beef, the onions, and the garlic and cook, while crumbling the meat, until the beef is no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes. Drain the excess grease.

Step 4 -In a large bowl, add the cheddar cheese soup, the cream of mushroom soup, the milk, the basil, and the black pepper and stir to combine.

Step 5 -Add the beef mixture to the soup mixture and stir to combine.

Step 6 -Fold the cooked macaroni and the shredded cheese into the beef mixture then pour it into the prepared baking dish.

Step 7 -In a medium bowl, add the breadcrumbs and the melted butter and stir to combine. Evenly sprinkle it over the macaroni mixture.

Step 8 -Bake the macaroni bake until it is heated through, about 45 minutes.

Step 9 -Serve.
