Ingredients

  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon allspice blend
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 loaf bread, of your choice, cubed into 1-inch pieces
  • 1/4 cup dried cranberries
  • 1/3 cup orange juice
  • maple syrup, optional, to taste, for serving
  • confectioners' sugar, optional, to taste, for serving

Directions

Step 1 -In a large bowl, add the eggs, the heavy cream, the cinnamon, the ginger, the allspice, the cloves, the nutmeg, and the salt and whisk to combine.

Step 2 -In a large mixing bowl, add the bread cubes.

Step 3 -Pour the custard mixture over top of the bread cubes and stir to combine.

Step 4 -Let the bread cubes sit in the bowl, tossing halfway through, for at least 30 minutes and up to overnight.

Step 5 -In a small bowl, add the cranberries and the orange juice and let the cranberries soak for 10 minutes.

Step 6 -Drain the cranberries, discarding the remaining liquid.

Step 7 -Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 8 -Coat a 9x13-inch baking pan with baking spray.

Step 9 -Pour the bread-custard mixture into the prepared pan.

Step 10 -Top the bread layer evenly with the cranberries.

Step 11 -Bake until golden-brown and crispy, about 25 minutes.

Step 12 -Serve with the maple syrup and the confectioners' sugar.
