Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 yellow onion, finely diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 green bell pepper, finely diced
- 1 (15-ounce) can tomato sauce
- 3 tablespoons tomato paste
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 5 hamburger buns, toasted
Directions
Step 1 -In a skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil.
Step 2 -Add the beef to the hot oil and cook, while crumbling, until it is no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes.
Step 3 -Drain the excess fat from the skillet.
Step 4 -Add the onions, the garlic, and the bell peppers to the beef and cook, while stirring, until the onions are soft and translucent, about 3-5 minutes.
Step 5 -Add the tomato sauce, the tomato paste, the vinegar, the brown sugar, the Dijon mustard, the chili powder, the Worcestershire sauce, and the salt to the beef mixture and stir to combine.
Step 6 -Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer the beef mixture until thickened slightly and the flavors meld together, about 5 minutes.
Step 7 -Serve on the buns.
