Ingredients

  • 1 (15.25-ounce) chocolate fudge cake mix
  • 1 stick salted butter, melted
  • 4 eggs, divided
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, optional
  • 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 5 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 4 cups confectioners' sugar

Directions

Step 1 -Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2 -Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.

Step 3 -In a large bowl, add the cake mix, the melted butter, 2 of the eggs, and the vanilla extract and using an electric hand mixer on medium-low speed, beat to combine.

Step 4 -Evenly spread the cake batter into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.

Step 5 -Clean the beaters of the hand mixer.

Step 6 -In a clean large bowl, add the cream cheese, the cocoa powder, and the remaining eggs and using the electric hand mixer on medium-low speed, beat to combine.

Step 7 -Slowly add the confectioners' sugar to the cream cheese mixture and beat to combine.

Step 8 -Evenly spread the cream cheese mixture over the top of the cake batter in the baking dish.

Step 9 -Bake until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean, about 45 minutes.

Step 10 -Transfer the cake from the oven to a wire rack and let it cool.

Step 11 -Using a serrated knife, cut the cake into serving-sized pieces and serve.
