Bacon-Wrapped Asparagus proves this rule and then some: the saltiness and savoriness of the bacon creates a lovely contrast with the crisp, garden flavor of the asparagus. Herbaceous and meaty, Bacon-Wrapped Asparagus is perfect for backyard barbecues, where it can occupy the same plate as grilled chicken or burgers.
Ingredients
- 1 pound asparagus, woody ends trimmed
- 2 teaspoons olive oil
- 6 slices bacon
- salt, to taste
- pepper, to taste
- dried parsley, optional, to taste, for garnish
Directions
Step 1 -Preheat the grill to 350 degrees F.
Step 2 -Place the asparagus in a mixing bowl and toss with the olive oil to coat.
Step 3 -Season with the salt and the pepper.
Step 4 -Wrap 5-6 asparagus spears with 1 slice of the bacon, securing the bacon with a toothpick if needed.
Step 5 -Repeat with the remaining asparagus and the remaining bacon slices.
Step 6 -Grill the bacon-wrapped asparagus for 10 minutes.
Step 7 -Flip and continue grilling until the bacon slices are crispy and the asparagus is cooked through, about 10 minutes.
Step 8 -For oven cooking: preheat the oven to 400 degrees F and roast the bacon-wrapped asparagus for 25-30 minutes.
Step 9 -Serve hot garnished with the dried parsley!
