Ingredients

  • 12-day-old unglazed donuts, cut into quarters
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 cups half-and-half
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest, finely grated
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon granulated sugar, divided
  • 1/2 cup raspberry preserves, seedless

Directions

Step 1 -Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2 -Lightly coat a 9x9-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.

Step 3 -Arrange the donut quarters in an even layer into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.

Step 4 -In a large bowl, add the eggs, the half-and-half, the orange zest, the vanilla extract, and 1/2 cup of the granulated sugar and whisk until it is smooth.

Step 5 -Pour the egg mixture over the donut layer and press down slightly to allow the donuts to absorb the liquid. Let it stand, about 5 minutes.

Step 6 -Bake the donut bake until it is puffy and set, about 35-40 minutes. If it starts to get too dark while baking, loosely cover the dish with aluminum foil.

Step 7 -Transfer the baking dish to a wire rack and let the donut bake cool, about 5 minutes.

Step 8 -Pour the raspberry preserves into a piping bag, then pipe it into different crevices of the donut bake, allowing some to overflow on top.

Step 9 -Sprinkle the donut bake with the remaining granulated sugar.

Step 10 -Serve.
