• 2 1/4 cups flour, unsifted • 1 teaspoon baking soda • 1/2 teaspoon salt • 1 cup butter, softened • 3/4 cup sugar • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar • 2 eggs • 2 teaspoons vanilla • 12 ounces chocolate chips, semi-sweet • 3/4 cup pecans, chopped • 3/4 cup caramel, finely chopped • milk, optional, for serving

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.

Step 2

In a medium-sized bowl stir together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl beat the butter, sugar, and brown sugar with an electric mixer until creamy and lightened in color.

Step 4

Add the eggs and vanilla to the butter mixture, adding the eggs one at a time and mixing between each addition.

Step 5

Mix on low speed until everything is incorporated.

Step 6

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, blending slowly and being careful not to over-mix.

Step 7

Fold in the chocolate chips, pecans, and caramel.

Step 8

Using a tablespoon, drop the batter onto an ungreased cookie sheet, leaving about 1 inch of space between the drops of dough so the cookies have room to grow.

Step 9

Bake until lightly browned, about 9-11 minutes.

Step 10

Let cool slightly and serve with glasses of cold milk!
