Ingredients• 1 bottle red wine—the ideal wine is something fruity but not too sweet like Merlot, Zinfandel, or Cabernet Sauvignon • 2 cups apple cider • 1/4 cup honey • 1 orange, zested and juiced • 5 whole cloves • 4 green cardamom pods • 2 cinnamon sticks • 1 whole star anise • 1/4 cup brandy • orange slices, optional, for garnish • cinnamon sticks, optional, for garnish
In a 3-quart or larger slow cooker, combine the red wine, apple cider, honey, orange juice, orange zest, cloves, cardamom, cinnamon sticks, and star anise.
Cover the slow cooker and cook on low until warm, about 30 minutes-1 hour.
Stir in the brandy and ladle the beverage into mugs.
Garnish the mugs with orange slices and additional cinnamon sticks and serve.
