Nana's Famous Hint-of-Lemon Cookies are just what they say they are—famous. These tasty treats have a delicious hint of lemon (easy to scale up if you prefer a stronger lemon taste)‚ and are the perfect amount of fluffy. One taste of these and you'll feel like you're right back in Nana's kitchen.


• 1 cup butter, softened • 2 cups sugar • 2 large eggs, room temperature • 2 teaspoons grated lemon zest • 2 teaspoons lemon extract • 4 cups all-purpose flour • 1 teaspoon baking soda • 1 teaspoon salt • 1 cup buttermilk


Step 1

Beat together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add 1 egg at a time, beating well each time. Beat in the lemon zest and extract.

Step 2

Whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt in a bowl. Add the cream mixture and buttermilk, alternating. Cover and refrigerate.

Step 3

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
