Homemade Spaetzle noodles in just 15 minutes? Yes, please! You just need 5 simple ingredients you probably already have in your kitchen and you’ll have tiny, delicious dumplings in no time. This recipe makes enough for 6, so you can share with your loved ones or save leftovers in the fridge to enjoy later. Pair Homemade Spaetzle with schnitzel, or eat it on its own for a warm and comforting dish.

• 2 cups all-purpose flour • 1/2 teaspoon salt • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg • 6 large eggs • 1/3 cup milk

Step 1

Mix the flour, salt, and your nutmeg into a large bowl.

Step 2

Beat the eggs and then milk together into a different small mixing bowl.

Step 3

Pour your milk mixture into the bowl of dry ingredients, and mix the ingredients to create a smooth batter. You're looking for a batter’s consistency that slowly drips off of a whisk or a spatula. You can add in more flour if it's too wet, if it's too dry add more milk. Allow the batter to rest.

Step 4

Bring a large pot, 2/3 full of salted water, to a boil.

Step 5

Pour in the batter through a spaetzle maker or through a cheese grater straight into the boiling water. The spaetzle will cook very fast and it will float to the top of the boiling water when it is done cooking.

Step 6

Move the dumplings with a spoon when they float to the top.

Step 7

Finally, melt 1/4 cup of butter in the skillet over medium heat, cook it until the butter smells toasty and begins to brown.

Step 8

Add in the spaetzle, and then sauté it for 2 to 3 minutes, making sure to stir it often.

Step 9

Sprinkle it with parsley, and serve warm.
